1. Date
Date format is month/day/year. You can write it out in one of several formats. Such as 8/10/2014, Aug. 10, 2014 or August 10, 2014.
2. Payee
Write the name of the person or company to whom you are paying money with the check. Make sure spelling and information is correct.
3. Amount in numbers
Write the amount in numbers e.g. $375.00
4. Amount in words
This will be the same amount that you wrote in the numbers area. You will just write the words out explaining the amount being paid. e.g Three hundred seventy five dollars and no/100.
5. Memo
This area you will write a quick description of what the money being paid is being used for. You address is helpful if different than the one listed on the check. Also, which month you are paying. e.g August rent for East Ridge Apt.#___
6. Signature
One of the most important steps in writing a check or using a Money Order is to please sign it.
